Sheridan: Injuries have cost Latics

Wed 26 Mar, 02:00 PM

John Sheridan admits injuries have put a major dent in Oldham's promotion hopes - but he believes they have done well in the circumstances. The Latics, who are currently four points adrift of the play-offs, have struggled to sustain a strong push for promotion this season, which Sheridan believes is in no small part down to their busy treatment room.

He told the club's official website: "We've had injuries all season to key players like Sean Gregan, Andy Liddell and Lee Hughes. If I'd had those players on the pitch we would have been a lot stronger this season, for sure.

"But I try to concentrate on who we've got in the team, and those lads have shown great character because the majority of them are only young.

"To be where we are in the league with the injuries we've had I think is remarkable, and that's full credit to the lads who have shown lots of desire and effort."
