Newcastle are optimistic of racing on Wednesday despite calling a precautionary inspection for 0800 GMT.

"It's purely precautionary and we're pretty optimistic of being all right," said clerk of the course James Armstrong.

"We have a mix of temperatures forecast overnight between zero and minus two. We had an overnight frost last night of minus two and minus three but we were raceable by 10am."
