Auxerre midfielder Thomas Kahlenberg has revealed that he hopes to return to action for his club before the end of the season, having been sidelined for two months with a knee injury.
The tendon problem in his left knee reared up during a 0-0 draw with Nancy at the end of January, and it has kept the 25-year-old playmaker out of action for longer than anticipated.
"It had been hurting a bit since the beginning of January", said the Danish international, who is currently receiving treatment in his homeland.
"With the accumulation of matches, I had little time to rest. I might have forced things a bit too much."
Kahlenberg consulted a Danish doctor on numerous occasions in a bid to rediscover his fitness, but with little success.
"The pain was too much. But now it's better. I hope to resume training next week and begin working with the ball."
The Dane has not, however, set a date for his return.
"I am convinced that I will play again before the end of the season. I am not worried about that. Auxerre will need everyone to pull together."
Auxerre are currently 14th in Ligue 1, five points clear of the relegation zone.
They face a trip to seventh-placed Lille on Sunday.
