Claude Makelele has refuted reports claiming that he is about to retire and move upstairs at Paris Saint-Germain.
The PSG captain and former France, Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder was quoted by AS saying he would quit in the summer and become sporting director for Paul Le Guen's side.
The club issued a statement in which Makelele denied making the comments and he insisted that he will only make a decision in the summer.
"I have a very exciting season to finish and I am not asking myself the question about quitting or continuing," the 36-year-old told PSG's website.
"It will be time to take stock of the situation in the summer with the directors.
"I was interviewed by a journalist from AS and clearly there has been a misunderstanding.
"I never said I wanted to bring an end to my career at the end of this season, nor become PSG sporting director. That isn't what happened.
"I simply said that it was conceivable, that it was a possibility and AS have too quickly drawn conclusions from that."
