Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he is treading carefully with Kanu as he turns his thoughts towards the FA Cup final. The lanky Nigerian has been a regular in the first team this season, but was left out of the side for last weekend's 3-1 defeat at Manchester City.
Redknapp insists there was nothing wrong with the striker, but plans to use him sparingly as the countdown to the Wembley showpiece continues.
Redknapp, who could also recall on-loan Milan Baros or give David Nugent a rare start instead against Blackburn on Sunday, said: "He's fine. I just gave him a rest for Manchester City because we've got to look after him.
"We are going to need him for Wembley because he will be an important player with (Jermain) Defoe not available.
"I'm not going to be using him for every game - I want to keep him fit and make sure he's OK but he'll be back in the squad on Sunday. He has done a great job for us this year."
