Price could be right for Berbatov

Tottenham head coach Juande Ramos admits striker Dimitar Berbatov is unlikely to stay at White Hart Lane if another club matches his valuation.Ramos wants to keep Berbatov but the issue could be complicated in the coming weeks, should one of the Bulgarian's many suitors - most notably Manchester United - meet Spurs' asking price.

In recent months, the 27-year-old, who signed for Tottenham for £10.9million from Bayer Leverkusen in July 2006, has been reported by various sources to be valued at anywhere between £26million and £40million.

Speaking after Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Bolton in the Premier League, Ramos said: "We know the situation of Berbatov and we are calm about it.

"If a team comes along and pays the asking price the chairman wants, then possibly yes, but we're delighted to have him here."

Berbatov - who has scored 23 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions this season - has two years remaining on his current contract and there is a club option to extend the deal by a further two years.

Meanwhile, potential new signing Luka Modric watched the Bolton game from the directors' box at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

Spurs have agreed a £15.8million fee for the Croatia midfielder with his club Dinamo Zagreb, with the 22-year-old set to sign a five-year deal subject to gaining a work permit.

Ramos added: "There are a few things like the medical that needed to be finalised.

"If it goes through, we will be delighted. I've seen him several times in games for his club.

"The club always try to sign good players, whatever players we sign will improve the squad. We always want to improve the squad and show our ambition."
