Olympic gold medallists Argentina were drawn with Oceania champions Australia, Asian champions Iran and European champions Russia in Group A for the Beijing Games.

In a statement the world governing body FIBA said Lithuania and a qualifier who have yet to be decided would make up the group.

Group B contains world champions Spain, Americas champions the United States, hosts China and African champions Angola with two further qualifiers.

The preliminary group matches will take place between the 9th and 17th of August, with the quarter finals all on the 19th.

The two semi-finals will both be played on August 21st, while the bronze medal play-off will be played before the final on the 23rd.
