Defender Paul Robinson believes West Brom have shown great "determination and character" by bouncing back from their FA Cup disappointment.

Since Albion's 1-0 defeat to Portsmouth in the FA Cup semi-final, the Baggies have put themselves in pole position to secure the Championship title by picking up 10 points from their last four games.

Robinson said: "The lads have been brilliant, especially after Wembley when everyone thought we'd go on a downer.

"We've shown great determination and character and didn't let the semi-final get us down.

"We've looked a solid unit in recent games. The way we've defended and put our bodies on the line has been fantastic."

Meanwhile, Southampton striker Stern John insists he will not buckle under pressure in Monday's vital clash with West Brom.

The relegation-battling Saints travel to The Hawthorns as major underdogs but the 17-goal frontman is confident he can boost his side's survival chances by taking the chances that come his way.

He said: "I have played under pressure all my career so it does not bother me. I just need to compose myself, relax and everything will fall into place.

"Every time I step onto a pitch I feel like I will score. I will always get a chance at some stage in the game, it is a question of waiting for it and making it count.

"I love scoring goals so I don't feel under any real pressure. I will play my normal game and try my best to score."
