A right wing cross found Bradley Johnson unmarked at the far post, whose effort was parried by keeper Steve Mildenhall, before Freedman was on hand to finish.

Yeovil's best chance in the first half was a close-range header from Marvin Williams, superbly saved by goalkeeper Casper Ankergren, but they had fewer attacking ideas than Leeds.

The only blot on the night for the Yorkshire side was a red card after 64 minutes when Sheehan brought down Lee Peltier with a two-footed tackle.

Then, three minutes from time, Aidan Downes' fierce drive was turned around the post by Leeds keeper Ankergren.
