Burton Albion won the Blue Square Premier and secured automatic promotion to League Two despite a 2-1 defeat at Torquay.

FOOTBALL Burton Albion Harrad - 0

Burton will play in the Football League for the first time next season, while Torquay confirmed their place in the play-offs alongside Cambridge United, Histon and Stevenage.

The hosts came from behind to win, after Marc Goodfellow put Burton ahead with an eighth-minute shot.

Torquay levelled five minutes later when skipper Chris Hargreaves fired in from the edge of the box and Elliot Benyon's header just after the break gave them victory.

Cambridge spurned the chance to snatch a dramatic title win after a goalless draw at home to Altrincham.

It would have been some victory for Cambridge as Burton were leading the league by 10 points when former boss Nigel Clough moved to Derby County.

Woking, Northwich, Lewes and Weymouth had already been relegated from the top tier of non-league football.

  1. This web site overestimates the English and underestimates every1 else. This is about a team from the english 5th league and it could've been with the top news and the news about something big in Serie A would never be with the top news
