Paul Lambert has revealed the Wycombe players begged him to reconsider after he revealed he was on his way out of the League Two club.The 38-year-old made his decision after they failed to reach the League Two play-off final after defeat to Stockport.

Lambert told the Bucks Free Press: "I have had virtually every player in my office coming in to see me and the adulation they showed for me was one of those special moments.

"They have come in and thanked me and asked me to reconsider which is terrific.

"What they have said is really heart-warming. But they have got to stick with it."
