Keane hopes for cup improvement

Mon 26 May, 05:02 PM

Sunderland manager Roy Keane hopes his Black Cats can have a better season in the cups next year. The Black Cats are yet to win a cup match under Keane, and fell at the first hurdle last season to Luton in the Carling Cup and Wigan in the FA Cup - losing both games 3-0.

But Keane told the club's official website: "Our cup performances have been some of my biggest disappointments at Sunderland.

"One of my ambitions for next season is to do well in the cups - but saying that, I was ambtious to do well in them last year and the year before!

"You just have to look at the FA Cup this season to see the opportunities - with only one Premier League team in the semi-finals.

"We've got to look at Portsmouth and believe we can do something similar. We'd love to have a good cup run next season."
