Colchester manager Geraint Williams has revealed he came close to quitting throughout the season which ended in relegation for the Us.Colchester finished their Championship season bottom of the table, a position they held for most of the second half of the campaign.
Williams was left frustrated by his side's results and performances, and the 46-year-old admits it was only the support of his family and staff which persuaded him to stay.
"There were a number of times last season when I felt like walking away," he told the Essex Gazette.
"I was very, very frustrated with the results we were getting and I'm the sort of person who takes losing very hard. There were many low moments last year.
"There were some dark times and that's when you need good people around you which is what I've got.
"I've had my family, the chairman and staff here and they've all been very supportive."
