Watford coach Malky Mackay has warned Rangers and West Brom they will have to stump up "big money" if they want Danny Shittu.

The Nigerian defender has been in imperious form for Watford and was included in the Championship Team of the Season - despite the Hornets missing out on promotion.

Rangers boss Walter Smith is keen on the big centre-back, who also amassed an impressive nine goals in all competitions this term.

Mackay told the Scotsman: "He's under contract and it would be a big-money signing.

"As far as how much, God knows. Whether the club would want to sell him or not I don't know but everyone has their price."

Shittu is also believed to be on the wanted list of Baggies boss Tony Mowbray, who is actively seeking a new centre-back as Martin Albrechtsen is likely to leave The Hawthorns this summer.
