Juventus have signed Brazilian playmaker Diego from Werder Bremen in a £21.5 million deal.
Diego helped steer Werder to the UEFA and German Cup finals this season with some exhilarating performances, which also attracted interest from Bayern Munich.
He was suspended for Werder's 2-1 defeat to Shakhtar Donetsk in the UEFA final but hopes to finish his stint at the club on a high with victory over Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup final on Saturday.
Diego joined Werder from Porto in 2006.
"I'm enthusiastic about Juventus and proud to become part of such a prestigious club, which I have dreamed about since I was a child," Diego told the Turin club's website.
"After the experiences in Portugal and in the Bundesliga I will be able to measure up to football of a very high level in a difficult and very competitive championship.
"It's the right time in my career to make such an important step and I'm convinced that with Juventus I'll achieve great results."
Diego's arrival is aimed at filling the gap created by Pavel Nedved's expected retirement.
Juve also hope Diego can spur them to success in the Champions League and on the home front next season.
Claudio Ranieri's failure to do so cost the coach his job last week.
Juventus, who are currently in the hands of caretaker boss Ciro Ferrara, also have a deal to bring Italy captain Fabio Cannavaro back from Real Madrid despite widespread supporter opposition.
The 35-year-old centre back, soon out of contract at Real, left for Spain in 2006 when Juve were demoted for match-fixing, while other top players such as Alessandro Del Piero and Gianluigi Buffon stuck with the club for their season in the second tier.

Diego has been great at werder bremen, now see him work his magic at juventus and also watch him make a great impact (like arshavin did on the prem).
great news for our beloved club...we need 2 more players and juve will shine again in Europe as well in the calcio.
I agree, Grygera needs to go.
Stop bashing the best club in Italy!! Cheating Moggi is going to prison. We lost 28 and 29 because of him. Titles that were easily ours anyway. Back than we had the strongest team!! We are the ones who brought Ibra and Viera to Italy, we were the best! Inter enjoys free time because of that bald moron...
Fantastic NEWS!
I have been waiting for Diego to sign for some time now...and we got him at a good price too...I think he will do wonders for us...and I hope he will play well with giovinco and marchisio...
Our midfield looks stronger than ever...we will be serious contenders for the Champions League next season...Now all we need is a solid right back coz Grygera is too weak for Juve now...
Comment nr 8. Best comment i have heard in months. well done mate. And you are right juve are nothing but bunch of cheats and match fixers
comment 20. Let me rephrase that. A great player joins a cheating club. Juve use to be my favourite team in italy, but now i have absoulutely no respect for them. A great club wouldn`t need to cheat to win titles.
Great Player joins a great team, that's good news
ohhh nooo such a low team like juve....omg
he will become the 2nd quaresma.
Lightweight player for a leightweight league, he would get physically bullied in the prem, he is not strong enough. Good flair player though.
Italian league is S H I T E
x chalpgic09, you're a puerile txat ! Juventus has the best youth system in Italy ( facts tell this) and is one most recognised clubs in the world. One dodgy manager cannot stain it's entire history, presuming the others are clean... (least of all corrupt Inter Milan). Don't forget Juventus played not one but four (4!) Champions League finals in the last fifteen years !
Besides Juventus is now a very healty club with none of the debt that other clubs are allowed to have and shove under the greasy carpet. Juventus youngsters, Giovinco, Marchisio, Ariaudo and De Ceglie and Chiellini will all form the back bone of the Italian national team for years to come. So get your envy and stick it where the son don't shine !!!
tkellem seww purcinell.....
oxx il-liba ommok ahjar taghlaq halqek ja zobb imgandar
nBz your mama sucks too, and were all sure of it
Great news. Forza Juve!!
i expect diego toshow his qualities at juventus and to be a good substitute for the great pavel nedved
i tell you what... he will suck and i m sure of it
diego u have made the worst decision of ur career.juventus has nothing to offer u as good football is concerned, they only know how to fixe matches. sorry buddy
Juve are lucky to have landed this Brazilian genius (how many are there atround at the moment). he is worth at least £30 million.
he played at Porto??? never new that?
and on Juve again, Giovinco should play left wing, possibly in the Dutch 4-2-3-1 system
