Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra wants France team-mate Franck Ribery to join the club - if Cristiano Ronaldo leaves.
Winger Ronaldo has been linked with Real Madrid and Ribery, who has been in excellent form for German runners-up Bayern Munich since he joined two seasons ago, would be Evra's choice to replace the Portuguese.
"Many say Cristiano will leave but only he knows the answer," Evra told The Sun.
"It's clear a guy like Franck would be the ideal solution for United if Cristiano left. Of course I talk to Franck about it: I tell him 'you had better come here'."
Ribery would cost around half the reported £70 million Ronaldo is expected to fetch.
Michael Owen could be set for a move to Aston Villa and defender Curtis Davies is one player who would "love" to see the former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker at the club.
Available for free after his contract expires this summer, Owen is a certainty to leave Newcastle after they were relegated to the Championship.
He would have to take a massive wage cut on his reported £110,000-a-week salary at St James', but Martin O'Neill is a master at restoring confidence, and Villa are playing in Europe, so Owen's interests would surely be better served there than at Celtic.
Gareth Barry could be staying at the club after all, after only Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur emerged as suitors for the England midfielder.
Now rated at £12m as his contract starts to wind down, Barry had been angling for a move to a Champions League side. But Arsenal and Liverpool have cooled their interest after Alex Song emerged as a candidate for the defensive midfielder role at the Emirates, and Reds boss Rafael Benitez insisted on keeping Xabi Alonso.
But neither Spurs nor City qualified for Europe this season and, with Villa in the Europa League, Barry's continental ambitions would be better satisfied in the Midlands.
Sol Campbell could make a shock switch abroad if he does not agree terms on a new Portsmouth deal in the summer.
The 34-year-old former England defender has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer in the USA and Swiss side FC Basel .
Wolves and Birmingham are also reportedly weighing up free-transfer bids for the seasoned centre-half.
Tottenham are in the market for a left winger and could swoop for Manchester City wide-man Martin Petrov.
The Bulgaria international is keen on a new start after his City career was derailed by injury, and with David Bentley surplus to requirements at White Hart Lane a straight swap could be the best solution for everyone.
Jermaine Beckford is set to leave Leeds after being slapped on the transfer list following the club's play-off failure.
The Jamaica striker, who bagged 34 goals this season, is at least a Championship-level striker and Premier League clubs have taken a look at him in the past.
He rejected a new three-year contract so, with only 12 months left on his current deal, is available for around £2m.
The 25-year-old could interest promoted trio Wolves, Birmingham and Burnley, alongside Sunderland, who scouted him last season. Most of the Championship is also reportedly keen.
Michael Turner will snub Liverpool and Manchester City's advances and stay at Hull City after they avoided the drop.
"This club really wants to push on from here and become an established Premier League side and I really want to be part of that," Turner told Sky Sports.
Turner, 25, is rated at £6m.

ribery will fit good with manu and ha ha liverpool dident win anything this year
but i dont think ribery n ronaldo will be together in united.both r best so if there is lots of best players in club ..the club wont work or do well..so c ronaldo should leave..
coment from "arsenal" "ronaldo should leave" sounds like some one wants ronaldo gone as he is tarring up the gunners defence humm someone sounds jealous
Ribery would be just the tonic for UTD
hey comment 70.....ronaldo have won everything except for european super cup.....what maybe more?....he has won everything in england....he should seek for new challege
i'm actually quite relieve to have read that Rafa is not interested in Barry anymore and Turner to snub Liverpool. we don't need both as we're well covered in those positions. I'd rather have one of the youngsters promoted.
franck ribery is the perfect man for manu. if ribery and c.ronaldo are in manu, i can't wait for the next season to begin. it must be awesome.
Sure Ribery is good, just can't get past how much he looks like a Bond Villain.
Wolves should buy Campbell & a holding midfielder, then they'll stay up.
ronaldo may leave simply because he wants a new challenge and it's every player's dream to play for real madrid- even though they've been having a bad spell these last few years...players like ribery and kaka and david villa etc would naturally look for lucrative transfers to the epl...
also, if you look at manu's record last season- it was their defence that played the bigger part in securing the title- not the striokers- in other words- they might not miss ronaldo as much as you think- lots of players are good at penalties and free kicks- given every chance to show it!!
ronaldo will stay at united why should he leave he will win nothing with any other team at least with united he will win the premiership plus european cup and maby more
Ribery can join but he must let Fergie play with his tool first!!
Ronaldo is NOt going anywhere he is under contract and would get sued till his money runs dry if he broke that contract that is why he is queit but when his contract is running up i expect him to up and pack his bags and go to weak Real Madrid who have not won a single title this year to Man U 3 and counting at least he can say he wants to go to Barca but do they want him er No because the have Messi, Henry and Eto'o not space for Ronaldo there. Ronaldo should stay put and stay quiet and guess what he is. As for Ribery maybe when Ronaldo is gone as for now stay where you are
Ribery was the best player at the last world cup, i was surprised arsenal never bidded for him.
OWEN is not wanted at VILLA, sicknote owen is really finished in football, everyone can see that, bit like jonny wilkinson in rugby, villa need 6 players to contest the big four, they need a new goal keeper(1) as brad is well past it and cant organise his defence, he never talks to them, we need two defenders of mellbergs class (2&3), we need someone to replace barry(4) or someone like him(5) just in case of tiredness or injury, we need to get rid of heskey, o neill only bought him cos they re mates from leicester, regardless of him we need a striker and i dont mean OWEN, we need a world class striker(6) not someone who is well burnt out and pass it, we need to clear out brad friedel, heskey, shorey, gardener, zat knight, reo coker, and other like albagonor need to learn a lot more then just running and lazy attitude at times, for 90mins they need to earn their money at least if they are not playing for pride,
oneill you just cant handle the big names
i agree with 46, we got enough has beens, wanna bes, pass it, non talented players at aston villa, WE DONT WANT OWEN!! can he take heskey with him,
owen will only keep the subs bench warm, good for nothing else. in a crucial match i think he touched the ball about 3 times,
oneill start listening to the fans
Well I guess Evra is tired of screwing Vidic's arse and now wants Ribery. Typical United side , full of gays
WE DINNAE WANT EM. AGLAY BASTURD.
WE DINNAE WANT EM. AGLAY BASTURD.
Waiit a minute.Ribery is wanted by so many clubs. He is going to decide where to go.I am sure that he will reject Real's offer but I am not sure that he will go to Manchester.About Tottenham, I am glad that they will sign Marto, because he is a great player, fast, good technique and has a great shot(and because I am a bulgarian, yes I am not shy to say it..But I can't understand all the fuzz about that Gareth Barry. He is just an ordinary midfielder, that doesn't has anything above the average.
