Adebayor reiterates Gunners contentment

Tue 26 May, 03:50 PM

Emmanuel Adebayor insists he is happy to stay at Arsenal despite alleged interest from AC Milan and Chelsea.

The striker has been repeatedly linked with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer but while Adebayor admits he is flattered by interest from Italy, he wants to stay with Arsenal.

"All I can say is I am a footballer and if a club like Milan are interested in me then I cannot lie to you, I am happy, because it is Milan," said Adebayor. "But the thing is that it stops there - I am very happy playing for Arsenal, and this is what I always say."

He added: "At the end of the day you just get bored of this - people read these things and then the fans will boo you for what you never said, but again I repeat that I am very happy here.

"I have got nothing to say to anybody. People are always there to judge - but they are not on the pitch, they are writing what they want to.

"I cannot explain myself to those people. They think what they are saying is right. I cannot do a better job than a journalist. I cannot do a better job than politicians - what I can do is play my football.

"This season I have given 100% of what I have, and I'm looking forward to coming back next season and trying to achieve things.

"I don't care what we have to do to win something - we have got to do whatever it takes to bring trophies home."

  2. i would love to se Ade wearing anothers team shirt next season. If he thinks he gave his all whilst playing for us this season, then he had better move on. Our defence would have no problems dealing with his runs (walks), attempts on goal (few), fouls (many). The facts are you did not perform and you looked like you did'nt care while you where on the pitch. You write a lot about you and the team but the team seem to do better when you are not playing.

  4. SELL ADEBAYOR..WHAT???!!!! you must be crazy. Adebayor is a constant threat on the pitch to any opposition. Those who want him to go, simply dont like him (and I can understand that) but not that he is a bad striker; nor do these people understand football at all.
Chelsea & Milan are no fools to want him in their squad, because they can see & appreciate his talent & yet to be realised full potential. The guy is very young & still developing, that means he will get even better.
For those who dont understand, check this out: the guy has, speed, strength & agility - that means he can bulldoze or slip through defences; he is also tall and therefore can score from, and defend crosses in the air. Moreover he is not selfish because he's been helping his team mates score goals through many assists.
Admittedly, his conversion rate needs improvement, but same goes for Arsenal's other (tall) attacking options eg. RVP & worst of all, Bendtner. Also the others... Arshavin & Edwardo, good as they may be; are unfortunately not tall enough to offer the additional aerial threat that Adebayor does.
Yes he scored fewer goals this season but also so did the world's best player, Ronaldo, and the likes of him. This because the EPL got tougher & more competitive this season.
Arsenal would be making a big mistake to sell Adebayor at this juncture.
What the club needs is to strengthen its squad in all departments;defence, midfield & attack; by first keeping its core players then signing more experienced established additional players; so that club could cope with loss of key players through injuries but still remain competive enough to challenge and win trophies in seasons to come.
Anyway, true Arsenal supporters are happy hear that player has expressed desire to remain with the club.
Please Mr Wenger, make everybody happy, splash a little more cash in the transfer market - as you did on Arshavin!

  6. If there is one player that should leave Arsenal it would have to be YOU Adebayo, we need someone who is more motivated and eager to score and win games "ONE OFFS" will not get as anywhere so please i just hop we a good price for you to bring in someone els.

  7. arthurlaws,willymcfarlane123, you are all a disgrace to the cause and should be utterly ashamed to call yourselves Gunners fans. No true fan would want to sell one of their best players. Berbatov cost Man Utd 30 million quid and is the laziest striker in the BPL. But I've not heard any of their fans requesting that he be moved along. Adebayor's season was blighted by injuries at some point. However, that does not suggest that he won't have a 30 goal season next term what with Ashavin, Rosicky and Fabregas all kicking after a good preseason. All Adebayor needs is our support to regain his confidence. If you think he's that bad a striker, why does some of Europe's top teams want him? Think with your brains, people, not with your hearts. Adebayor appeared to be lazy in some games this season because Wenger was playing him as a lone stirker against some of the world's best defenders

  8. You know , dont supporters get sick and tired of making excuses for non performing professional footballers, the remark Henry and Dennis played poorly when they were young like Adebayor , please tell me when that happened , when Henry and Dennis were the top pros at the club (highest paid) LIKE ADEBAYOR IS NOW I cannot remember them disappearing and having a bad game.

Stop pandering to these pansy footballers and see it as it actually is !!!!

    From willymcfarlane123, on Tue 26 May 5:05PM
  9. I love to see Adebayor in next season. He has the talent and remember he is still really young. Don't forget. Dennis Bergkamp and Thierry Herny played poorly in this ages too. But, they become great footballer in Arsenal. Adebayor is a strength, good body shape and high motivation in attach player. Skill can improve but the attitude and the love to Arsenal would never change. As a Arsenal fan, I REALLY REALLY hope to see we won't lose any of player in coming season. We lost too much good player in constant past years....that's the main reason we didn't achieve anything in these years as it seriously influence the mood of players.... GIVE MORE SUPPORT TO PLAYERS!!!!

  10. ARSENE , PLEASE,PLEASE DONT LET US HAVE TO WATCH THE CLOWN ADEBAYOR FOR ANOTHER SEASON , HIS LANGUISHING IN OFFSIDE POSITIONS , HIS LACK OF BALL CONTROL, THE AMOUNT OF CHANCES HE NEEDS BEFORE HE CAN ACTUALY FIND THE NET, THE ARROGANCE WHEN HE DOES EVENTUALLY SCORE , AS IF TO SAY , YOUR ALL UNBELIEVERS IN MY GREAT TALENT , I BEG YOU ARSENE GET RID,GIVE BENDTNER THE CHANCE AT LEAST HE`S HONEST.
