Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu hopes Celtic's new manager is not as successful as Gordon Strachan.
The Hoops have begun the search for a new boss in the wake of Strachan's decision to quit just 24 hours after Rangers won the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.
Celtic chiefs will be hoping for similar results from his replacement but, having now had a taste of success, Edu insists Rangers will also be up for the challenge next term.
"I think he was a good manager," he said of Strachan. "It's unfortunate that he stepped down but I'm sure he will go on and assume a new role somewhere else and do well there too.
"Hopefully whoever comes in to lead Celtic won't do as well because we want to continue winning titles here. But I'm sure whoever comes in and assumes that role will be the right person for the job. They had won three in a row and have just lost so there is a desire to come back and try to win the title.
"That's always going to be there, there is always going to be that edge and competition to win. For us, there is also the will to come back and win again. We want a repeat, we want to win the title as well next year."

Slaven Bilic or Frank Rijkaard would be my choice. Walter Smith would never be able match the strategy of a decent European minded manager. Rangers won the league by default this season. Due to lack of investment at the start of the season & in January. The league was won, probably on the lowest amount of points ever. We need a manager that'll end the stagnation of the SPL.
Most of all The PLC need to put their hands in their pockets & Invest in the Team! Gambling on a poor, debt riddled Rangers team being unable to match Celtic, didn't pay off!!!!
I imagine there's footballing cities throughout Europe dreading being drawn against Rangers!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH CAN'T STOP LAUGHING HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAH
C'mon the Gers league and cup winners 2009.
Still wouldn't swap Celtics dismal away record for Rangers' shocking home one.
Sadly I still haven't heard one serious name mentioned who will be more sucessful than the guy who has just left.
Champions League for Septic next season? You'll Never Win Away!
LUCY (point 15) - Do you SERIOUSLY think you will see "big-money" players at Ibrox, like when you paid silly money for Laudrup, Flo, Gascoigne, etc? Walter Smith is not that stupid to shell out that kind of money! Celtic have never been one to "splash the cash", and have an uncanny knack of finding guys like Larsson, Hartson, Sutton, etc. And don't laugh, but nobody had heard of HARALD BRATTBAK, but his record ar FC Rosenborg spoke volumes about his potential, which sadly was not fully realised at Parkhead. IBROX REALITY CHECK TIME: bring in your youth, and spend WISELY in getting in experienced guys!
If Celtic dont pay the wages (and they dont!!!) who the hell is going to play for them just players that cant command big wages (the also rans) thats why Celtic are yet again the also rans..and will continue to be ..So sorry to see Strachan from the SEPTIC as he could have lost a lot more Cmon the Gers ..hello hello!!
The Champions league money that is quoted is "pre-tax". So it is actually much less.
Rangers still have massive debt to be serviced and will have to off-load players while keeping a core.
Celtic's problem is getting rid of the "passengers" who don't contribute but start in the first 11. In the fall of 2005, Strachan actually had a bigger task as many of O'Neil's bhoys were aging fast (Sutton, Thompson, Varga) and were on the downslope. Others like Agathe just couldn't figure it out, over rated themselves and just never got in line. Jackie Macnamara commited career suicide. What has he done since Celtic gave him a testimonial - nothing.
Whoever replaces Strachan will have the same need that was not serviced in 08/09 - A reliable strike partner and a good left back. I am sure that some guys will just move on as Strachan brought them in and they will be surplus
Celtic cant win away or home for that matter. Celtic are finished.
10... you're clairvoyent now? celtic will get a tough draw in the qualifiers but we're still capable of going through, so don't dismiss the possibility that we'll joining rangers and getting a slice of the much needed cash that rangers so desparately need.
nichollgrant wit in the world makes you think any of them so called class managers would go to wits at smell oi ts celtic and rangers will wipe i table clean next year its so brilliant being champions hahaha samatokrubash mon i gers yeha
Did I say it was going to be spent on players? Who am I to say that? Yes it will go to debts whats delusional about that? Don't you realise that paying off debt is a good thing? Celtic may not have any, or at least not as much as Rangers do, but what players are going to want to join a 2nd placed team with a 2nd rated manager with no European Football for the entire season? You better hope Paddy McCourt was worth it ;)
5.. you are being delusional ya nudebook, that champions league money is going to the debts. Do you honestly think that money will be spent on buying players? You're having a laugh!
Rangers were denied 9 clear points by dodgy decisions against them. Tv evidence showed this. So should be 13 points clear. Celtic are ROTTEN. ENJOY THE CLEAROUT
Your squad is @#$%. It'll be two in a row come next year, regardless of who you get to replace Chesney.
You blew it this year, 7 pts up in January. You didn't deserve the title last year either, so shut it.
nichollgrant - guus hiddink LOL in your dreams, how about Paul Le Guen!?!
What makes me think the finances will get better? Probably the fact that Rangers will get all the Champions League money this season as theres no way Celtic will qualify.... I'm not being delusional... I'm being realistic, unlike most Celtic fans who now think they are going to get a world beating manager... check out post number 3, what a load of @#$%, you seriously think your going to get someone any better than Neil Lennon?
delusional rangers fans, what is your thinking? you may have won the title and will get the £10million you get for the champions league, but that is only papering over the cracks of what lies ahead, and you can guarantee players will be leaving in the summer to try and recover anything that will go towards paying debts that the banks are bound to be demanding.
