Motherwell chairman John Boyle claims Celtic have not been in touch about taking Mark McGhee to Parkhead.
The Fir Park boss, a former Hoops player, has been linked with the manager's job at Celtic which was vacated by his close friend Gordon Strachan on Monday.
However, Boyle told Sky Sports that talk about McGhee moving to the east end of Glasgow is simple "speculation". "Nobody from Celtic, or any other team for that matter, has attempted to speak to me and I haven't spoken to Mark McGhee," he said.
"But we will do everything we can to hold on to our manager, he's a great manager, a wonderful asset to our team.
"He's been a great motivational figure over the last two seasons and anything we can do we will do (to keep him).
"But as yet, everything is speculation and that is the state of play.
"I can't make any other comment other than we will do everything we can to hold on to him."

DONT THINK MARK McGEE IS THE RIGHT MAN FOR CELTIC. HE'S NOT OLD FIRM MATERIAL!! IF IT WAS TO BE A MANAGER FROM THE SPL THEN IT SHOULD BE CSABA LASLO OR CRAIG LEVEIN OR THE ONE AND ONLY NEIL LENNON
