Tottenham have agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven for the transfer of Brazil goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes.
The club will now discuss personal terms with the 27-year-old with the deal also subject to the player acquiring a work permit.
Gomes, a fans' favourite at PSV, had requested a transfer shortly after the club claimed their 21st league title last season, citing differences with managing director Jan Reker.
Gomes, who made his name at Cruzeiro, was an ever-present in PSV's title-winning campaign, conceding only 24 goals in 34 league games. It was his fourth successive Dutch league win since joining the club in 2004.

i also agree to a point, but if we want to play with the big boys, then we have to compete in the transfer markets like them. No one said it was gonna be cheap or easy.
success comes at a price, and if it means top flight european football!! then so be it.
I agree with Peter, it's good to get these players but how long can we keep spending like this. I like our policy of buying younger players so we can get cash back if they don't make it at the club, but look at the rubbish we got last season. We would be lucky to get half of what we paid for Bent, Boateng, and Kaboul. Also when was the last time we brought a player in through the ranks? The last one to have any real kind of impact was Ledley King!!!
Pleased to see we have replaced Paul Robinson and getting £5m from Villa for him. We need to look at a genuine succession plan with youth being brought in. We cannot just keep raiding the transfer market as this is not sustainable!
