Stelios Set For Tigers Talks

Thu 26 Jun, 11:09 AM

Hull City manager Phil Brown is planning to hold talks with former Bolton Wanderers midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos.

The Greece international is available on a free transfer after not being offered a new contract by the Trotters at the end of last season.

He is currently on holiday after being part of Greece's Euro 2008 squad and is due to meet with Brown upon his return.

Stelios, who turns 34 next month, has expressed a desire to continue playing in the Premier League following his release by Bolton.

And he could be reunited with former Trotters coach Brown at the KC Stadium, if talks regarding a contract prove to be successful.

"I will be talking to his agent when I get back (from holiday) and I will be talking to the player himself soon," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"He has gone back to Greece with his family, who I know very well, and he has only just finished his season with Greece at Euro 2008.

"I'm sure there will be an opportunity to speak to him in the near future."

  2. Stelios is a 34 year old has been. Why not go the whole hog and sign Campo as well. With Windass and Barmby, Tigers should have the oldest team ever in the premiership !!

PS - I understand Nobby Stiles is available, not sure if he's old enough though
