Three sons of former NBA players followed in their fathers' footsteps when they were picked in the first round of the draft on Thursday.
Stephen Curry (number seven), Gerald Henderson (12) and Austin Daye (15) will get the chance to be the next generation of their families to play NBA.
Their selection also keeps a streak alive: At least one son of a former NBA player has now been chosen in the past seven drafts.
Like father Dell, who logged 16 seasons, Curry is known as a sharpshooting guard who strikes from long range.
"You always dream that you want to do what your dad does," Curry said after being picked by the Golden State Warriors. "I went to the gym, shoot around, the locker room and all that stuff and that's all I knew."
Henderson's father, also named Gerald, played for the Boston Celtics and several other teams, but the younger Henderson said his dad's time joining the league was different from the hype surrounding today's prospects.
"Back when he was coming into the NBA, it really wasn't a process like we have to go through nowadays," said Henderson, an athletic swingman taken by Charlotte.
"He probably only had one tryout, and you know, he did a pretty good job and he was a Celtic.
"He's given me some advice here and there but he's let me go through it and really grow by myself."
The 6'11"Daye, chosen by the Detroit Pistons, follows father Darren, who played for six seasons with three teams in the 1980s.
"I was able to be a sponge growing up, absorb all the things that he said," the younger Daye remembered. "He's been a great mentor and he's definitely the person I looked up to the most."
