Eurosport-Yahoo! blogger Simon Reed believes people are entitled to get excited about Andy Murray, because he has a genuine chance of winning the tournament.
Murray's service was unbelievable against Ernests Gulbis, and he reduced his unforced errors to an absolute minimum.
It was a terrific performance from the Brit, but at the same time, I don't think Gulbis was ever going to threaten him significantly.
I maintain that the Latvian has not got the hunger to challenge the likes of Murray, and he often needs a good shake up to get going.
Despite that, Gulbis is still a good player and the number three seed had to raise his level from the first round in order to beat him.
Gulbis is a work in progress and it may well never be finished: he has a lot of talent, but he should ask himself some serious questions now.
He is 20-years-old and does not seem to be going anywhere; that would be a real waste of talent.
I know Lleyton Hewitt believes he is playing his best since 2005, but I don't believe he has a real chance of challenging at the business end of the tournament.
It was a terrific performance from the Australian in his victory over the fifth seed, Juan Martin Del Potro: it was like rolling back the years.
Hewitt has opened up that half of the draw considerably now, and it is looking much better for Andy Roddick and Murray.
I thought Del Potro could go through to the semi-finals, but he simply did not play well enough against Hewitt, and looked a shadow of himself.
Tomas Berdych was exceptional today against Paul-Henri Mathieu, and he is a very dangerous floater in that quarter of the draw after his victory.
Fernando Gonzalez was terrific today, and if he continues to play as he did against Leonardo Mayer, he could beat anyone.
The big question remains with the Chilean 10th seed: will his knee hold up?
He looked to be unrestricted in his movements against the Argentine, but the issues with his knee creep back in if he plays a five-setter.
The women's event has been pretty low-key, with the exception of Maria Sharapova being knocked out.
I do not think that any of the victories today by the top players were particularly significant to be honest.
Venus Williams put in a good performance in beating Kateryna Bondarenko of Ukraine, and she looks good despite the obvious wear-and-tear in her legs.
For me, Serena Williams has played by far the best tennis in the women's tournament so far, and she is certainly the favourite in my book.
It would be a super story if Caroline Wozniacki went all the way, and she played well in beating Maria Kirilenko, but I think the quarter finals will probably be as far as the ninth seed will go.
Looking ahead to tomorrow, I think Philipp Kohlschreiber could push Roger Federer.
The German is a match for anyone on his day, and it is sure to be a very attractive match, first up on Centre Court.
If Kohlschreiber plays at his best it could be very tight, but I do not see Federer losing the match.
It will be a very tough match for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga against Ivo Karlovic, and I could see that match potentially going the distance.
I have also got my eye on Robin Soderling, who represents a threat to Federer, and I see the Swede beating Nicolas Almagro of Spain.
Serena Williams will stomp all over Roberta Vinci of Italy on Court two, just as she did against Jarmila Groth on Wednesday.
It is onwards and upwards for Victoria Azarenka, and although I think it will be a good match against Sorana Cirstea, I think the eighth seed will be too strong for the Romanian.

"I also believe that Serena Williams will surprise a few people and at least reach the semis this year - do not count her out"
Serena Williams record at Wimbledon in entire career starting from 1998 debut:
R3,(absent),SF,QF,WIN,WIN,F,R3,(absent),QF,F = it will never be a surprise to see her go deep at Wimbledon, it is only a surprise when she or her sister loses early...

Murray made the comments about England and the world cup with his tongue firmly in his cheek, he has said so several times since!
can i just say something on this issue about his comments on england.....andy murray is scottish, england are the old enemy, people seem to forget that in international football they are, as a proud scot and brit, our greatest rivals, just as the germans are to england....i mean for crying out loud england/scotland is the greatest rivalry on the planet in my opinion and it is great to see scots and english embracing that rivalry the way they should, the way murray did rather than taking it to the extreme and being out and out racist....i would be more shocked if murray DIDNT want to see anyone put one over on our greatest rivals, purely in the name of good banter....i myself am firstly and foremost a proud scot but i am also a very proud brit, and so is murray and his appreciation of his support from everyone sitting in the stands at wimbledon shows that....as much as us scots love to see teams put one over on the english, be it football, rugby, cricket or tiddlywinks, we will always (or most will, a sad minority will not) be there, murray included, supporting GBR at the olympics, europe at the ryder cup, ricky hatton in america, and we are all following the lions in south africa....its time to stop being petty, noones saying he will be the next brittish wimbledon champ but if we all get behind him, boy does he have a good chance!
Murray¨s picture, from now asequible that the Federer. They semi-final can be given Murray- Roddick and Federer-Djokovicwith mores possibities for Murray , and of similar form in the previus round Murray out benefiad

I wish his mother would learn some Etiquette and Decorum for the oldest most pretigious tennis tournament, the way she carries on effin and blinding in the stands you would think she was at an old firm clash between rangers and celtic, come on mother Murray show some respect
SCOTTISH T W A T WILL NEVER WIN IT
I know the grass is slower now, but I don't think the irregularity of the bounce is that suited to those enormous flat forehands of Soderling and Kohlschreiber, which they start to set up so early. It's a big contrast with the flexibility of Fed's strokes and the speed with which he sets them up. So if either of them beats him, I'll go out and buy the most edible looking hat I can find... Come to think of it, Almagro, with his huge serve, might prove tricky enough for Soderling.
