Carlisle manager Greg Abbott has admitted his interest in signing former Hartlepool man Matt Robson.

Winger Robson left Pools at the end of last season after seven years and Abbott is keen to bring him to Carlisle.

He said: "I'm working my socks off to try to get Matt into the club and we've made him a terrific offer to try and secure that.

"Obviously we think he's a good player but we are not in a position to talk about him because he isn't ours yet.

"We are close to another one, a centre forward, but I won't release his name yet. He's a good player and he's done well against us in the past and that is the right type of player I am trying to bring to this club."
