Davey calls for patience

Barnsley boss Simon Davey has admitted he is having to be patient as he waits to strengthen his squad at Oakwell.

Davey is still pursuing the highly-rated Charlie Adam, who enjoyed a successful loan spell at Blackpool last season, but thinks transfers are taking longer than usual this year.

"He (Charlie) is still a player we're interested in, we're still talking to Rangers," said Davey.

"In all honesty the transfer market is very slow at the moment, this is probably the slowest pre-season I've known.

"A lot of managers don't want to do business at the moment, so we have to be patient.

"I want to get some more players in before the season starts, but the important thing is not to panic because we've got a good core of a squad - and we've still got time to get a few additions."
