Training ground boost for Magpies

Notts County are set to have their own training ground facilities for the first time in the club's 147-year history.

The Magpies have secured a 15-year lease for an area of land in Beeston that was previously used by local side Plessey FC.

The facilities will be exclusively for County's use and the training base will also be home to the club's youth team.

Chairman John Armstrong-Holmes told the club's official website: "Many people may not appreciate the full significance of this deal. Not having our own base has plagued a succession of managers, and (current boss) Ian McParland was extremely keen to address that.

"It is yet another example of how the standards of professionalism are being raised.

"This deal means we will no longer have to hunt around for somewhere suitable for the players to work on miserable mid-winter mornings."
