Britain's Ryan Dalziel has been ruled out of the next round of the ChampCar World Series in San Jose after breaking his collarbone in a cycling accident.

The 27-year-old Pacific Coast driver was on a training exercise earlier this week when he fell off and will be unable to race for a month, meaning he will miss the events at San Jose this weekend and Road America.

The injury is a bitter blow for Dalziel, who is expected to return to competition in time for the European round at Zolder in Belgium in August, as he currently lies 11th in the championship and was in the middle of the best form of his career.

Pacific Coast have yet to name a replacement for Dalziel but veteran Brazilian Roberto Moreno raced for the team at Houston and must be considered a candidate.
