Donington Park secure an ideal calendar slot in July for the 2009 MotoGP British Grand Prix.
Donington Park have expressed their pleasure at being confirmed on the 2009 MotoGP calendar with a prime summer slot.
Although there were fleeting concerns that the forthcoming overhaul in accordance with the circuit securing the rights to the Formula 1 British Grand Prix would threaten its place on the calendar, the FIM are satisfied that the disruption will be minimal.
Following on from this year's record breaking event in June, the event has now been moved to the height of summer for 2009 to July 24/25/26, a fact that circuit officials believe is likely to lure more spectators
"It's a prime time of the year to hold Britain's premier motorcycle race in the UK", said Donington Park's Chief Executive Simon Gillett "and we are delighted to be able to have the date announced so far in advance, that the record crowd that attended this year's event can plan their arrangements accordingly."
"We will continue to provide the best possible programme of entertainment for the event, on and off the track,"
The last event before the summer break, it will be the 23rd consecutive year that Donington Park has hosted the MotoGP British Grand Prix. There remain doubts beyond 2009 though, with Silverstone thought to be in the running to secure the rights, although Donington Park insist they are in negotiations to retain their contract.

moto gp must stay at donnington, by far the best uk circuit for viewing the track, improve the fences to stop a few muppetts getting onto the track, sorted!! and i only live 5 mins away from the track ;-)))))))
Motto GP should stay at Donnington where it's been for meny years. Just to up sticks and move just becouse because of a matter of so called security is stupid and could ruin it for thousands of fans. It's in the center of the country a perfect location.
NO WAY SHOULD IT LEAVE DONINGTON FOR SILVERSTONE, DONINGTON IS BY FAR THE BEST TRACK IN THE UK ESP FOR VIEWING AS NO MATTER WHERE YOU STAND YOU GET A FANTASTIC VIEW OF THE CIRCUIT....PLEASE DON'T LET IT GO TO SILVERSTONE!
No way should Donnington run Moto GP until they have increased security to stop track invasions such as ruined this years race
