Ricky Hatton has sparked rumours he may be planning another professional boxing comeback after renewing his boxing licence with the British Boxing Board of Control.
Hatton's licence had expired but the Mancunian has confirmed he has renewed it, meaning he would be clear to fight again should he wish to do so.
"I certainly haven’t announced my retirement and you never say never," Hatton told the News of the World.
"I have renewed my boxing licence again with the British Boxing Board of Control in case I decide to fight again.
"Floyd Mayweather Jr was retired for two years not long ago and he made a successful comeback. It is only 14 months since I fought Manny (Pacquiao)."
But Hatton added that for now he is happy concentrating on building up his promotions company, Hatton Promotions.
In its first year the company produced major champions and an eight-fight contract with Sky Sports.
"There are not many promoters in the world who have done what I've achieved in their first 12 months so it can only go from strength to strength," the 32-year-old said.
"In 10 years I see myself as the best promoter in the country and still being as enthusiastic then as I am now - whether it is a four-round kid having his first fight or our Matthew (Hatton's younger brother).
"Every promoter starting out says they want to be the biggest and the best. If you don't have those ambitions don't bother in the first place.
"As a boxer I wanted to be the best fighter in the world and now my aim is to be the best promoter in the world."

Oh here we go again .. the ' Ricky you've got nothing to prove' gang are back in force. Same bunch that were screaming for Joe C to retire, despite being 2 fights from Marcianio's and Louis's record. And why? To preserve that precious unbeaten record .. Terry Marsh was unbeaten and who remembers much of him??Do you lot actually like boxing? Hatton has been beaten twice .. by 2 of the greatest ever. If he can get back in shape, then i reckon he could give any of the 140s a fight, including Khan, which would be a huge fight worldwide and make pots of money. And what kind of bonehead can believe Hatton was ducking Witter!?Crazy stuff. If you fancy it Ricky, i am right behind you mate.
I could'nt agree more Jack,, great to know that some of us know our boxing mate...
Gave us some great nights and I for one enjoyed following his career. But now it's time to enjoy his estimated £25 million and carry on putting on some good cards . . . next goal should be giving Mr Warren a run for his money
l cant see the need for all the slagging , hatton's been a good servant to british boxing and given us value for money. after saying that, l'd like him to enjoy his retirement and grow old gracefully and enjoy his money , he must have bundles ....
good luck ricky and PLEASE DONT DO IT !
Brian, Hatton the best this country has ever produced, Dream on mate, you need to do a bit of research.... He was good but he was no great. He fought two great fighters at their peak. Enough said.
why is everyone slaggin hatton off he was and still is the best fighter this country has ever made and do you think he gives 2 @#$% about what you judas @#$%s think get a life his true fans will support him no matter what he does because THERE`S ONLY ONE RICKY HATTON
Fat t w a t lol
ricky its over , you ducked junior witter all your boxing life . you picked your meat made your money , now go away . you were never very professional inbetween fights ballooning up . not a good role model to younsters in the sport . manny gave you a pasteing , surely its lesson learnt .
why doesnt he take on CHURCHILL the dog. they look about the same, a stone or two over-weight.
Oh my God Ricky what is the point, you have nothing to prove, thanks for the good times,by the way,a box at Torquay United would do you more good, all that fresh sea air, great pasties and the football is at least honest!!!.
Good call jimjam. I would say he should never fight again, that his punch resistance is shot. If he gets in the ring with a hungry up and comer, he'll come unstuck. But a bout at welter or even light middle against another shot fighter for big money, then yes, why not. I don't think Ricky or Oscar could hurt each other anyway, and it might turn into a rather good match.
only one more fight should take place and thats against Oscar dela hoya. a big money fight which the boxing fans would love to watch the world over. nether quite in there prime, slick hand speed with oscar and hatton chasing him down with body blows...........who would win.........hopefully we will find out!
Gosh..........is this the price to pay for being a Man City fan? Best to watch them on TV!!
I think Hatton WAS a great boxer, but I'd hate to see him fight and lose to a mediocre fighter. Losing to Mayweather and Pacquiao is no shame, but I just don't see who Ricky can fight next. If he takes on Bradley or Alexander he'll lose (whereas in his prime those would have been great fights), but if he takes on someone over the hill he won't get any credit.
She should certainly not get back in the ring, his time was good but its gone. Pacman put paid to his career.
