Borussia Monchengladbach have brought in Japanese youngster Yuki Otsu from J-League side Kashiwa Reysol.

The 21-year-old has not yet appeared for the full national team but won his first cap for the Japan under-22 side earlier this year.

Otsu plays as an attacking midfielder but can be deployed as a striker and has signed a three-year contract that will take him up to the summer of 2014.

Gladbach's sporting director Max Eberl spoke of his excitement over the signing: "Yuki Otsu is a player for the wide attacking positions.

"He made a good impression as a trialist and we're very pleased to have reached an agreement with his club for the transfer."
