Aberdeen have confirmed defender Quido Lanzaat has returned to Bulgarian club CSKA Sofia after the conclusion of his trial.But the 28-year-old Dutchman may yet win a move to Pittodrie before the close of the transfer window.
Manager Jimmy Calderwood told the Dons' official website: "The player has not done himself any harm.
"He improved every day in training. It was good he got to see the game on Saturday to get a feel for football in this country."
Lanzaat came through the Ajax academy and was capped by Holland at youth and under-21 level.
He moved to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2000 and joined Alemannia Aachen two years later before spells with 1860 Munchen and MSV Duisburg. It was while with Borussia that he was banned from football for three months after failing a drugs test.
