Sheffield Wednesday manager Brian Laws has revealed the club have given a trial to former Reading defender John Halls. The 26-year-old, who was released by the Royals in the summer, is training with the Owls and is set to feature in the reserve game against Shrewsbury.
Laws is looking to bring in back-up for injured defenders Frank Simek and Richard Hinds and revealed he had made contact with Halls before signing Middlesbrough's Tony McMahon on a one-month loan last week.
"John Halls is out of contract and he is a good player so we have decided to take a look at him this week," Laws told the club's official website.
"I had planned to bring him in for a trial before we signed Tony McMahon last week so we'll see how things go in training and the reserve game on Wednesday night."
