Everton have completed the signing of Denmark defender Lars Jacobsen on a one-year deal after he passed a medical.
Toffees manager David Moyes concluded his first deal of the summer with the right-back's capture.
Moyes has been frustrated in the transfer market and was especially keen to bring in a midfielder after Manuel Fernandes, Lee Carsley and Thomas Gravesen left in the close season.
Regular right-back Tony Hibbert will be out of action for another six weeks with a knee injury therefore Jacobsen will provide cover. Club captain Phil Neville, typically used in midfield by Moyes, has played there in the opening two matches of the season.
Other players to have departed Goodison Park include Andrew Johnson, Stefan Wessels and Anthony Gardner. Moyes has said he is looking to bring in six or seven loan signings before the close of the transfer window next Monday.
Jacobsen, the first choice for his country on the right side of defence, has been without a club since his release by Nuremberg at the end of last season.
He did not feature when the Bundesliga outfit faced the Merseyside club in the UEFA Cup last season and only made seven appearances in all competitions throughout the campaign.
Jacobsen has Champions League experience from his three years with Copenhagen and has also featured for Hamburg and Odense.
Denmark failed to qualify for either the World Cup in 2006 or Euro 2008.

maybe desperation to sign for sake off signing, however we could be like the RS at Analfield and sign any old s...e. My biggest problem is that we've not replaced the likes of Carseley wich to me will be missed far more than AJ as the man worked his @#$% off 150% every game and we aint got a rep for him yet. Not sure by signing a defender its gonna help except free up Neville to Midfield, only hope he moves Jags back to defence again. We so need more in midfiled and attack and until that time I think we'll fight tooth and nail to drag points out every week instead of owning games and getting points we truly deserve. Come on you blues lets show the RS just how sh.te they truly are and that throwing money and players as they do is not the answer.
to stephan f i am with you on that one i use the name telboy everton forever on yahoo answers
It might not be Liverpool's fault that they have won things in the past, but it is their fan's fault for still harping on about it 20 years later. Its all well and good giving Everton grief for their relative lack of success but you wouldn't want to pick the same fight with United would you? And Everton might have done a bit more in Europe if you hadn't burnt Heysel down and denied them entry to the competition when they were at their strongest. So think on you stupid mickey mouser fans, and stop living in the past and giving everyone else @#$% about their team. How does that saying go again - don't throw stones if you live in a glass house! Fat Spanish waiter manager, shed ground and apart from Torres, Gerrard and Carra - @#$% players
if its not liverpoola fault they have won things in the past it must be the teams they are playing they must be @#$%e
If its not Liverpools fault who`s fault is it?
Yes we are all arseholes and yes we all live 100 miles away from Anfeild BLAH BLAH BLAH cant be as good as us so lets abuse the teams global support, its not Liverpool's fault they have been so successful that they are supported around the globe now is it? But worry not, you blue blouses will be spurting the same old @#$% come next year from the championship if you don't get some players in that are better then this mug sounds.......... now piss off to Kirkby
Are all Liverpool supporters a***holes or just the one's on here?
everton need a completey different time there @#$% haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa liverpool fan
From: Morty...Agree with Marlon Patten, it's a start and Bullard WOULD be an asset, so let's have him before the Ging at Bolton.
Trevorocallaghan...judging by your surname, you like the majority of reds, probably live 100's of miles from Anfield and spew out your bilge from the warmth & safety of your armchair.Sad t--t.
If Moyes rates him then i rate him.
Can the Blues on here give me a hand on Yahoo Answers. English football section.
Why the doom and gloom? this guy is half decent and will allow neville to go back into midfield. its obvious that he's only been given a one year deal so he can prove his worth first to get an extension on that, if he doesn't prove himself then we'll wave goodbye with no contract to pay up it seems like good business sense to me. Now come on blue bill dig a little deeper and sign bullard and m'bis
wot a signing for the blue boyz blue blood an all dat.. who is he.. i was a pilot once an we flew over denmark im sure i seen him doin keepie ups an playin three an in.. anyway never mind rippin are new right back moyes went for him so he will do for me.. with a wink.. we only need cover anyway coz are team is superb without any late dash signing so come all ye faithful an sing ya hearts out for da lads.. i know thers not dat many so da song wont be long.. 3 more will do till next window.. later people im off for a pint..
sign reyes every 1 has forgotten him just like cisse it would be a good move give lars a chance i heard of him before this at the minute championship leval but its a start peace
Oh no, Signing a player thats been let go by Nuremberg. Sounds like a bad move! Things going from bad to worse. When is Moyes going to sign a new contract, or is he waiting for a move to somewhere that deserves him?
i hope hes good rate me
Looks like a desperate signing to me.
What was the point in selling AJ is they couldn't find a suitable replacement?
Everton are a good team but they should have had targets lined up before they sold anyone. Now they will suffer the costs of that mistake.
Oh ... My ... Gawd
EVERTON SIGNED SOMEONE. Looks like it could be a little desperate though, a signing for the sake of signing. What Everton really need is a good replacement for AJ.
championship football 4 everton next season..no1 wants 2 join everton coz there @#$%.haha..liverpool yaaaaaaaaaaaa
Who will help me tell David Moyes that 6 0r 7 loan signings that are allowed in game, that only 2 is allowed.
remember the last dane we signed...
