Top seed Nikolay Davydenko dispatched American Robert Kendrick 7-6 6-3 to advance to the third round of the New Haven Open.
Russian world number eight Davydenko outlasted big-serving Kendrick in the first set and cruised through the second to continue his preparations for the US Open, where he has twice reached the semi-finals.
Eighth seed Mardy Fish was knocked out by fellow American Rajeev Ram 6-3 6-3 after squandering five break points.
Second seed Fernando Verdasco of Spain advanced with a straight-sets 6-0 6-3 victory over Paul Capdeville.
He joins Jose Acasuso of Argentina, who beat Tommy Robredo 3-6 7-5 7-6, and French veteran Fabrice Santoro, who downed Potito Starace 7-5 6-0, in the third round.

Davydenko is playing some great tennis again look out for him at us open think he could make the finals.Good luck to him.
