Kirk double puts Dunfermline through
Andy Kirk scored twice as Dunfermline secured their place in third round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup with a 3-1 victory against Raith.
The home side took the lead just before half-time when former Northampton striker Kirk nodded in Willie Gibson's inviting cross.
But Rovers rallied and they drew level five minutes into the second half when Neil McGregor hauled back Gregory Tade in the penalty area and Iain Williamson made no mistake with the resulting spot-kick.
But Dunfermline were not to be denied and two minutes later they were back in front when Gibson's free-kick was turned into his own net by Mark Campbell.
And Kirk gave the home side breathing space when he tapped in Joe Cardle's cross at the back post after 68 minutes.
Raith refused to throw in the towel and were awarded a second penalty when Allan Walker was upended in the box 10 minutes from time, but Williamson failed to convert from 12 yards.
