FIFA have fined the Croatian FA following racist abuse from some of their fans during their World Cup qualifier against England.
A disciplinary committee from world football's governing body handed the Croatia Football Federation a fine of 30,000 Swiss Francs (around £15,000) following the behaviour of a section of the crowd during the match in Zagreb on September 10.
England won the match at the Maksimir Stadium 4-1, courtesy of a hat-trick from Theo Walcott and another goal from Wayne Rooney.
During the match, England striker Emile Heskey was subjected to a volley of monkey chants after he received a yellow card for a foul on Croatia captain Niko Kovac (pictured, left, with Heskey).
A statement on FIFA's official website reads: "The Croatian Football Federation was found guilty of a violation of article 58, paragraph 2 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code, and received a warning regarding its future conduct according to article 13.
"Further infringements of article 58 would lead to more severe sanctions by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
"Racism has no place in football. FIFA is determined to continue broadcasting this message around the globe and deploying all of the means at its disposal to eliminate this form of discrimination."
The CFF was also punished in June for fans' racism at Euro 2008.
They were fined 20,000 Swiss Francs (around £10,000) after UEFA ruled they showed racist conduct towards Turkey supporters in their quarter-final.
Croatian FA Secretary-General Zorislav Srebric told the online edition of Croatian daily Jutarnji List: "We are not happy about it because any such fine means less money for soccer development in Croatia. However, we understand this as the most serious warning to stick firmly to all FIFA regulations.
"The fight against racism or any other form of discrimination must be insisted upon on a daily basis."
The FA responded by saying in a statement: "We repeat our position that we will not accept any racial abuse of any England players. There can be no place for racist behaviour in football or society."
Earlier this week, Manchester United incurred an automatic £25,000 fine from the FA for picking seven yellow cards in Sunday's Premier League match against Chelsea.

Sorry but Croatia is in Southern europe plese dont take the english defenition of eastern europe to heart no offence its probably not your fault but check on wikipedia so you can see the geographicle definition of eastern europe even the politcle one does not include croatia as it wasent part of the eastern bloc
I think Eastern european countries dont take racism serious and they should be fined by not allowing them to host big matches until they sort out there laws on race.
Heskey is a good man to put it across that way and he has defiantly good in terms of how he behaived , what makes me sick is that im from croatia and all the press attention on the focus of home fans from zagreb disrespecting heskey in a rasist manor has given england the idea that croatia is some rasist country, let me tell you there are black people in croatia defiantly not as much as england but even my first cuzon is black and lives in croatia what you need to understand is the ignorance of fans does not reflect the country, croatia is a tourist country and many black people all over the world come to visit in summer and go without one hint of raceism. Its a shame and croatia should be punished but instead of just fines fines and fines the ideology of these idiot fans have to change why cant fifa promote anti raceism in the country if there so bothered about raceisim sorry its because they want to cash in and use the situation to get money out of it come on fifa fix up and promote anti raceism once again croats are in no way rasist a minority when given outlets like the media come across as a majority of rasist but do you reasearch and you will find they are not rasist i am very sad for the situation in zagreb and more needs to be done but there are black people in croatia and the world isent all multi cultural because you need to understand apart from pokets in and around england i.e manchester, leeds, birmingham and cardiff outside london you will not find many black people so plese be aware of the situation croatia is not a raisist country it is butiful and if this happens fifa should promote anti raceisim aswell not just fines
SORRY,CORRECTION
RED,WHITE,BLUE,NOT RED,BLUE,WHITE WHICH IS BLOODY RUSSIAN COLLORS...
THE BEST THING FOR ENGLAND IS TO SEND HOME FAST ALL FOREIGNERS AND BUILD AN "ALL ENGLISH/BRITISH "GOD SAVE THE QUEEN" TEAMS,PROUD,DEDICATED,INVINCIBLE,ONLY POURIDGE EATING YOUG PLAYERS,DRESSED IN RED,BLUE,WHITE,THOSE BEAR FUR HATS,LEAD BY THE FAMOUS SCOTT,"SIR" FERGIE!!
THIS IS WHAT ENGLISH/BRITISH PEOPLE IS DREAMING!
If black player (Eduardo) is the most beloved player in Croatian team how can funs be racists? They are making fun of a guy who fouled domestic player. If he was Bosnian they would think of something other to insult him.
It's not like Croats have bad history with black people like some countries (England, Spain, France, Holland, Germany, US, etc). I think that those countries are only trying to transfer racism problem to others, so they can look better.
Can anyone remind me, how are English clubs fined when their supporters sing racist and insulting chants? (Need I remind anyone of what Tottenham fans sing about Adebayor and the Eduardo - Heather Mills comparisson?)
anything abusive said to black people is racism, if he's white it's okay... I'm pissed off with this RACISM talk..
lets be philosophical, this thing called racism is getting out of hand, the blacks have suffered alot in hands of the whites;not only the crotian team but all over europe & america & something to be done urgently but for football to be precise they should pay a heavy fine, play in an empty stadia with no coverage,i think next time others will learn from that & put their @#$% together, black is not a cause but blessing from GOD.

I don't really see how fining Croatia football will acheive anything! Does anyone thinks the Croats who chanted the abuse will care???? No!
Croatia should be made to impose higher gate fees as punishment and when the chanting stops then they can be lowered. We have to get 'those' fans out of the game!
racism is an evil vicious way, more reminicent of Nazi Germany and the cowards that propmote it are no balls men
fifa that was an insult to the cause a meager 10,000k what was that for coffee for the fifa clangs. that is not sending a point that is simply disregarding the truth and facts of life and to show lack of justice and respect for other people regardless of colour, religion and belief. very disappointed
Yeah but you can see their point.
so much hate.... but guess this is where people say what they really feel, when they are not facing who they are talking to. Some of those comments are straight from the lowest human action - cowardice.
Constantinescu A, I hope you get some friends, and some happiness, and spare us from your "tough skin" theory. You must have been a target of racism yourself. If not, then you really should make some friends of different color. Travel the world. Get out of where you are.
dorin c, you think you can solve the racism problem by writing on blogs?? you've done nothing to solve the racism problem by saying those things, only worse. you don't solve something like racism in your head, "done and dusted" attitude. legalize it?? legalize what?? racist remarks?? those comments are not clever, but you have brought great shame onto yourself and by naming your country, to them also. Travel the world. meet people, spend less time in your head. and don't forget to smile sometime!
Constantinescu A (answer 65) wouldn't be spouting his trap if he were stood in front of me. It would be the last thing that comes out of his stinking East European mouth....believe me.
i'm from croatia, and i got to say that croatian people have a lot of things on their mind but racism is not one of them. and i'm not just saying cos i 'm from zagreb. that was a small group of fans who were frustrated with the result and the situation on the pitch. they are idiots anyway. don't make abig deal about it a think they have a bigger problem in spain..or so.. to tell you the truth, we like your football, your players and league..and it's something special to defeat england-come on, just look on your midfielders..lampard,gerrard,beckham(great sportsman if you ask me)joe cole....i rest my case. work on your confidence and you'll be world champions
THE RACISM MUST BE LEGALIZED AD STATE LEVEL OR EU LEVEL.IN THIS WAY WILL DESAPEAR BY ITSELVE......
force them to play in front of an empty stadium. do not penalize the players points for the actions of the fans but make the punishment should be something that effects the fans, the croation association paying a small fine does not matter to them. EMPTY STADIUM
i am amazed how fast that fifa can act when the english fa complain . yet when irish and celtic fans complain to them about the rangers fans disgraceful famine racist songs nothing gets done .
as usual one law for the powerful and a different one for the less so .
cmon fifa get the finger out and clamp down on these scumbags
