Notts County might have been given the brush-off by Sol Campbell, but that won't stop them chasing after more big names.
If, as expected, County manager Ian McParland is gibven the push, the Magpies will target former Internazionale boss Roberto Mancini , who has won Serie A three times. We know Italian football ain't what it used to be but it still seems like a fairly drastic step down. (Daily Mirror)
Meanwhile, the whole County project could be in jeopardy as the club's new owners Munto Finance are in danger of failing the Football League's fit and proper person's test. Not least because nobody seems to know who they are. (The Sun)
Portsmouth's new owner Sulaiman Al-Fahim is trying to cobble together a £50 million transfer war chest in a desperate bid to keep chairman Peter Storrie at the club. (Daily Mail)
Former Pompey boss Harry Redknapp showed his former club the kind of managerial acumen they are missing yesterday when he said he only brought David Nugent to Fratton Park because he failed to sign Nicolas Anelka. (Daily Star)
Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has backed embattled team-mate Eduardo da Silva by admitting he also overreacts to win penalties.
He said: "Sometimes when you are in the middle of an 'action' and you get a little push, and you know there's nothing more to take. Basically, the guy pushed you and finished the whole action. Then you're in the right to show, in a way, to the referee that you've been pushed. Know what I mean?
"That's not really diving. It's just saying: 'Come on, he just pushed me, so I can't score now'. You sometimes make a little movement with your arms or with your body, yeah. But I don't think that's really cheating." (Guardian)
A decision on Kevin Keegan's compensation claim against Newcastle is expected next week after the Premier League's independent arbitration hearing ended last night. (Daily Mail)
Steve Bruce has backed Kieran Richardson for an England recall at left-back. You read that correctly, Ashley Cole fans. (The Sun)

Don't bother with Mancini-- Phil Brown of Hull City will be available soon-- He's good for a laugh!
Arsenal-Cheaters
Wenger-Hypocrite
This whole thing is rubbish from start to finish. Not one credible story in it. These Eurosport guys really are rubbish. I know that it has been trawled from the tabloids where fact or the truth never feature, but surely they can do better than this.
Bruce is NOT a Geordie! He comes from Wallsend. True Geordies only come from a certain part of Newcastle, in the same way that Cockneys come from a particular part of London. Learn a little evry day - if you can - then one day you might actually know your facts before you shout!!
Ashley Cole has got to be the most over-rated full back in the history of the game. Where is he when England are scored against??? Usually somewhere near the halfway line trying to get back after giving the ball away. Every international team that England have played in recent times have exploited this problem. And now we are doing the same thing on the right side, but at least this guy does actually create something going forward. Anyone who can actually DEFEND as a fullback, would be an improvement on Cole.
