Premier League - Ronaldo: I made right choice

Cristiano Ronaldo has said he made the right decision to stay with Manchester United and expects to continue with them beyond this season.

The Portugal winger was courted by Spanish champions Real Madrid during the close season after he let slip he would like to play for them in the future, having won a Premier League and Champions League double with United.

After a meeting with United manager Alex Ferguson at the beginning of August, the 23-year-old finally ended the speculation by committing himself to staying in England for this season.

"Now I understand I have made the best decision. I am with Manchester in body and soul," Ronaldo told sports daily Marca.

"I am a Manchester player. I want to respect the club, my colleagues and the fans and don't want to talk about other teams at present. Only God knows the future. I think I will continue here next season."

Ronaldo is in the running for the 2008 Ballon d'Or and FIFA World Player of the Year after scoring 42 goals in United's double winning season last year.

He went on to reveal that he studies every game he plays in minute detail.

"Every time Manchester play, the club's television channel shows the game at midnight. I like to watch it and analyse everything I have done," he said.

"I believe this is a way to improve and smooth out errors. I want to be a better footballer and am completely dedicated to this."

However, whoever he plays for he is a truly great player and very exciting to watch. That will never change. If we don't get excitement and talent, what's the point in watching football in the first place, right?

Bratu darling, there is a difference between a true football fan and lover of the game, and someone who just supports a club and knows nothing about football and is not a football fan, such as you. Anybody who can say that Ronaldo is useless is not a football fan or lover of the game. You just blindly support a team and have no idea whatsover what is actually happening in the game, who has skill etc, as long as your team wins. If Torres played for Man U and Ronaldo for Liverpool you would have the complete opposite opinion of them as players. See what I mean, you know nothing about football. I support Man U, I think Torres is great and love watching him play, same for Gerrard. I love to watch my team play and win, I also love to watch great footballers whatever team they play for. I'm a football fan, you don't like football at all. You are just a parrot and monkey, as long as Liverpool win who cares about football. You are missing so much in your life you poor little sod

  15. listen, whether it's for a few games (henrik larsson), a few seasons (ronaldo?), or twenty seasons (giggs) - you surely want the best players at your club (whichever you support) and not at your rivals'. i don't think anyone who wishes man utd well, would be sorry to have c ron playing there.
