Former world champion Ken Doherty crashed out of the Masters qualifiers in Prestatyn in the first round.
The Irish veteran, who reached the semi-finals of the Masters in 2008, lost 4-2 to Welsh teenage Michael White at the Pontins World Snooker Centre.
The 18-year-old prodigy will face Michael Holt in the first session of Tuesday's second round.
Doherty was the scalp in the first round, with Jimmy White, Robert Milkins, David Gray and Barry Pinches all coming through their matches comfortably.
The winner of the final on Thursday will earn a wild card entry into the 2010 Masters at Wembley Arena.
