Manny Malhotra scored two second period goals to help the San Jose Sharks cruise to a 4-1 victory at the Philadelphia Flyers.

The win was the fourth in five games for the Sharks, who also had goals from Dany Heatley in the first and Jed Ortmeyer in the third.

Darroll Powe scored for Philadelphia in the first period to tie the score at 1-1.

"Manny has been really good for us defensively, penalty killing-wise," Sharks coach Todd McLellan said. "The fact that he found a way to get on the scoreboard put us over the top tonight."

Sharks backup netminder Thomas Greiss collected his first win of the season after making 37 saves.

"Probably wasn't completely fair to him to be thrown to the wolves the way he was," McLellan said. "Maybe our team rallied around him a little bit, too, for the fact that he hadn't played all year basically and this was his first opportunity.

"This was not an easy game to come into. He did a very good job."

Former San Jose goalie Brian Boucher stopped 24 shots for the Flyers but gave up two goals on nine shots in the second period to lose his first start of the season.

With the win, the Sharks completed a six-game road trip with a 4-2 record.

Heatley collected his eighth goal of the season by pushing a loose puck under Boucher's left pad after 6:20 of the first period.

After Powe tied the score three minutes later, Malhotra took over.

The former Columbus Blue Jackets player deflected a shot off Boucher's stick for his first score at 7:51 of the second period, then scored from the right faceoff circle about two minutes later.

"I think he's starting to feel real comfortable with our team, with his linemates, and we're happy for that," McLellan said.
