Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson strongly criticised referee Andre Marriner for "bad decisions" after the 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Liverpool 2-0 Manchester United
Rafa Benitez: "In the morning I had decided that (Fernando Torres) would be involved, but I needed convincing he could start rather than just be a substitute. I talked with Fernando on the coach, and that was when I was really convinced that he could play.
"Playing Fernando was a difficult decision. He was not training, the same as Steven Gerrard.
"But after talking with him we decided it was better to start the game with him. You could see he was not 100 per cent fit, but sometimes 80 per cent of Fernando can make a difference."
Alex Ferguson: "I think (the atmosphere) affected our players and it affected the referee. There were so many controversial things that happened we have to feel aggrieved at some of them. The Vidic booking was the worst decision. It is a foul, fine. But the player has played on, he won the second ball and knocked it for a throw in and got booked. It put Nemanja under pressure.
"The most controversial decision was Carragher bringing down Michael Owen. He was clear through. The laws of the game were altered to prevent professional fouls of that nature and if Carragher goes off, he is their best player and their captain. It would have been a different game. They would have been under pressure.
"The referee was only four or five yards from it he cannot use a covering defender as an excuse. Michael was clean through. With Michael's pace he is going to get away from him."
"(Carragher) has gone right over the top of the ball (in another incident, involving Michael Carrick). If it is outside of the box it is a free kick and maybe a yellow card.
"But it was inside the box and the referee was only six yards from it. It was another bad decision."
West Ham 2-2 Arsenal
Gianfranco Zola: We were well in the game then we made a mistake that was very costly and then after that perhaps the confidence went down.
"But I said in the changing room at half-time I saw they were willing to react and that made the difference really.
"No, it wasn't an angry changing room, it was at the beginning a little bit low but we had a chat and I think everybody realised that the only way to get out of the situation was to react, so they did and I'm pleased and proud for them."
Arsene Wenger: "It's disappointing. We had a good game today but I believe we were a bit unlucky with some of the decisions.
"West Ham fought for their lives and made it very difficult for us. Overall we played a good game but we couldn't get that third goal to finish it off even though we had plenty of opportunities."
Manchester City 2-2 Fulham
Mark Hughes: We were 2-0 to the good and we should have seen the game out but unfortunately we allowed them back in the game and given them a lift. Then it was how we dealt with balls into the box and a guy in Dempsey who is acknowledged as good in the air - and we haven't dealt with it.
"We've been caught out a couple of times this season and it seems to be prevalent this year, not just with us but with quite a few of the teams around us.
"We started really well in terms of our defensive work but we have conceded goals and we are working hard on that. There are always elements of our game we need to focus on."
Roy Hodgson: "It was a horrific miss (by Bobby Zamora) and it was a pity because he played so well. Unfortunately people who watch on the TV will see the miss and they won't see the 96 minutes and 45 seconds in which he was absolutely magnificent.
"Really it should have been seen as the crowning moment of a great performance but instead it is going to be seen as a glaring miss and a blot on his copybook which is sad for him.
"But if you want a good example of the character and resilience of this team and its ability to bounce back, Bobby's performance in the last 30 minutes shows that.
"I'm aggrieved by the corner kick. It was a clear offside which was seen by the linesman then over-ruled and that has cost us a goal."
Gary Megson: "I can fully understand people talking about this - (Ivan Klasnic) has had this kidney transplant and he's come through.
"But I think in time we'll move on from that and just recognise that he's a good player.
"He doesn't mention it at all. He doesn't have any fuss and he isn't treated any differently to anyone else, he just gets on with it ."
David Moyes: "Wwe ran out of steam with about 20 minutes to go. We didn't really have the personnel to make changes, but we're not using that as an excuse - we should never have been 2-0 down, never have got ourselves into that situation.
"I just told them (at half-time) to go on and win the game - I thought that it was there for us. When we got it back to 2-1 I thought we were in the ascendancy for periods and I thought if we could do the same we would get another goal, which we did.
"But when it got to 2-2 we stepped off it and ran out of energy."

When will Ferguson learn to keep his mouth shut, he never stops complaining, he has just been brought up on FA charges for comments about an official and then he does it again.
Funny how the biggest whiners in English football run Arsenal, Man U and Liverpool. They have all the money in the world, can have any player they want, get constant favouritism from the officials yet crime like babies any chance they get. Talk about spoiled brats! I little maturity once in a while would be nice.
There's only one thing to say about all of these controversial decisions by the referee.....
FERNANDO TORRES DOES IT AGAINNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Manchester Utd were playing at their VERYY best.... they just couldnt handle Liverpool with Torres not fully fit and NO GERRARD
That refree made lots of wrong decisions. The yellow card for Evra was not fair at all.And that means the refree lost his fitness(memtal and physical fitness) during the game. The way Orwen got pulled down was suppose to lead to a straight red card, but due to the refree's favourness towards Liverpool, he just give a yellow card instead. He is a dump and coward refree I have ever seen in my life.
after read all the comments from man u. Nobody talked about incident where berbatov pulled Kuyt's shirt in penalty box.
Should be penalty to be awarded to Liverpool. So, is it a fair decision by ref?
Man fan...please answer.
After watching Hanover v Stuttgart this weekend where the ref was a total loss, I mean one of the worst displays I have seen in 40 years! I thought the ref in the Liverpool v Man U game was fair and let the game flow. I think it was around 8 mins for the first free kick. There were a couple of things that could have been given that weren't but if they had then it still would have been equal.
Ferguson is a bloody @#$%! arrogant roach.
dazmanutd whats with the yahoo idiots one then? Surely even you can see that your namesakes need at least 3 quality players and the time has come to shift the old guard? they are living on reputations and can be exposed by pace, its blatantly obvious
Ferdinard has promised to give Torres the piece of hair he yanked as Torres blasted past him and smoked Van der sar with a vicious shot.
2-0. Enough said!!!
You will never walk alone.
DID ANYONE NOTICE WHEN TORRES WAS SUBSTITUTED YESTERDAY ,THAT FERDINAND , AND VIDIC FELL OUT OF HIS POCKET AS HE LEFT THE FIELD OF PLAY ,
Oh c'mon .. stop whining abt the referees decisions ... he forgot to mention one fact .. why 6 min of added time? same old story when united trail by a goal.
And talking abt Carra .. he got a bit of a ball and a bit of the player so a fair challenge .. if Carrick and co. cant take then they are better off wearing panties and play beach volleyball ... and as far as Vidic is concerned he cant handle trickery and strikers which have loads of pace ... so a pure red card for what he did ....
COMMENT 361 REPLY ,SURELY IF THAT WAS TRUE ,WHY DID THE REF ALLOW THE BEACH BALL GOAL TO STAND ,WHEN RULES STATE THAT IT SHOULD NOT OF ,STOOD, MANCHESTER UTD HAVE BEEN LOOKED AFTER FOR YEARS BY THE FA . PS NO ONE COMMENTS ABOUT BERBATOV MANHANDLING KUYT IN THE BOX YESTERDAY ,
I am neither a fan of Man U or Liverpool, but this season and last Liverpool have clearly had all decisions made by the officials going for them. The decisions yesterday were stunning. I am not suggesting there is any organised cheating going on, but the more you watch these games the more you scratch your head. Is it the FA issuing instructions to Refs. Fergie is right to stand up and say something and the FA need to do something before their credibility is further affected. If the Ref's are just bad, replace them, fine them, do something, just don't allow this level of incompetence to continue
Vinny B (338) "Have you ever read some of the vitriolic posts that you write?" - yes you pig thick bin lifter - I WROTE THEM !!
Poor Fergie. There's been so much Hot Poop coming out of his cake hole these last few years that it has actualy scalded his nose into a bright red colour. Can someone not invent him a special '' Spout Sh.ite Proof Nose Cover '' before it is too late.
Nobody praises David Ngog... He's learning the ropes and he calmly beat a worldclass goalie by skinning Van Der Saar... Well done David, well done Yossi.... Big up Fernando bigtime!!! Kop King 4 Life...
What's the point in pretending that we have no problems at all, Please tell me how we can challenge Chelsea, City and even the scouser's are about to get a pot of gold too. We need to face facts, we are not the same team without Ronnie!!!!!
Ferguson, don't blame the REF, your team was poor against liverpool.Just thank GOD that your team didn't conceded three or four goals. And man Utd deserved to lose.

THE FACT IS LIVERPOOL WON THE GAME , CRY ALL YOU WANT BLAMING THE REF ,YOU REALLY SHOULD BLAME THE CLOWNS ,FERGIE PUT OUT , LIVERPOOL WERE BETTER PUMPED , THAN YOUR BEACH BALLS WERE FOR THIS GAME .SO GET A LIFE ,OR A JOB YOU DOLE SCAMMING BINDIPPERS ..2-0 HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ............
