Leeds manager Simon Grayson wanted a home draw, but his side will be going all out for a win at Oldham in the FA Cup.
United travel to Boundary Park over the weekend of November 7/8 for the first-round clash and Grayson knows all about their League One rivals.
He said: "Ideally you want a home draw. When you don't get that, you'd prefer to have someone you know something about rather than making a step into the unknown.
"We're already due to go there in December as they're in our league, so we'll be prepared and have a fair idea about what to expect. It'll be a game that both of us are looking to win."
Meanwhile, on-loan goalkeeper Frank Fielding, drafted in as cover for Casper Ankergren during Shane Higgs' injury absence, has returned to parent club Blackburn.
England Under-21 international Fielding was an unused substitute on three occasions for Leeds.

Don't risk anyone Larry, though against Oldham we should be okay with reserves anyway!
Getting out of this League takes priority over EVERYTHING!
