Emile Heskey could make a rare start for Aston Villa in their Carling Cup clash with Sunderland at The Stadium of Light.
The England striker has struggled to displace Gabriel Agbonlahor and John Carew for much of the season, but Villa boss Martin O'Neill is likely to make changes against Steve Bruce's side.
Second-choice goalkeeper Brad Guzan is also likely to play after featuring in the majority of cup games since joining Villa 18 month ago.
Luke Young, Fabian Delph, Nigel Reo-Coker, Nicky Shorey, Habib Beye and Craig Gardner come into contention, with O'Neill mindful of Villa having to play five games in 15 days.

C'mon, where is all the support, 27,666, the Geordies get that for reserve games. Knew i should of taken my big red beach ball.
Crikey.... a lot of panic amongst us Villa fans... we're top 7 and beat Chelsea/Liverpool already! My main fears for this season i.e. strength in depth in defence has been largely sorted. Ok we don't look as threatening in open play at the moment, but its a long season ahead and lets not forget defences in the premier league have got wise to our attacking players compared to our free scoring season two years ago.
Predictions.... we will still end up scoring 55/60 goals in the league, but hopefully concede less than 40, with top 6 a definite possibility.
Downing will add a cutting edge when he returns, probably a better passer and goalscorer than any of our current midfielders / wingers.
No Darren Bent is a big blow to Sunderland tonight, so i reckon it could end in penalties, with Guzan saving a penalty then stepping up to score the winner!
i think MON should rest gabby and give delfouneso a shot.
If M Oneil plays Heskey in front of Carew Villa could struggle to get a result against us, Having said that A Young and G Agbonlahor are a threat to any defence by themsleves so it will not be an easy game for us at all.
gabby?dave?
LOL heskey, this game should be a walk in the park.
Sunderland 3
Villa 1
if villa's front six dont start hitting the net, villa will do well to finish in the top half, even with the vastly improved back four and great goalkeeper.
trouble is none of them seem goal oriented, in fact they look goal afraid.
its no good having players of great quality , which they are, if none of them can score.
MON has a big job on his hands here.
emile can you score for a change?
