Tudgay promises Owls response

Mon, 26 Oct 17:23:58 2009

Marcus Tudgay has promised Owls fans the players will make up for their Watford horror show with a much-improved display at Bristol City next Saturday.

Owls striker Tudgay apologised for a performance manager Brian Laws described as "a shambles", but was unable to account for Wednesday's chronic inconsistency this season.

Tudgay told the Sheffield Star: "To the fans, we apologise. We showed them nothing. They spent money to go to the game and were robbed in a way.

"It's crazy. We've played well before but then we put in a poor performance like that. It's certainly not a lack of togetherness, we're as a strong as ever in that respect.

"We just didn't turn up. We let ourselves down. We've let Sheffield Wednesday down and the fans and what we now need to do is to give them a better day at Bristol City on Saturday."

  1. As a life long (60 years) but long distance Wednesdayite. I read recently that the chairman called for gates of 25,000. Surely he must have the common sense to see that gates will fall when teams like wednesday can't consistantly win at home. I read Laws' comments on the games, he talks a good game pity he can't put it into practice on the field. Our position after this weekends games will be in the bottom six. What price play offs Mr Laws?

  2. point 2 john fowler.
Sorry john the manager is not motivating his players they are short on confidence, its his job to sort that.
Got news for you, you may be happy with mid table but if this @#$% continues gates will go down, supporters dont want mid table they need something to look forward to.
Talking of wages Cardiff are second they dont have pots of money but they have an experienced manager who knows what he is doing.

supporters dont want a mid table team, they want to go to a match knowing that there may be something at the end of the season, im all for giving a manager a chance but he is not the one. I think there are some good players at wednesday but without a decent rudder -( the manager)

  3. Part of why the Owls are in the mess they are .. is too many Changes of Manager.. I do not want us to change again... I have no doubt we are a Mid Tabel side.. and we wil have a good run at some point this season.. with out more funds to pay wages, to players we are not a top 6 side in this division.. any more than Blackburn are in the Premier.. the only good thing in the Championship is you can be a Mid tabel side and still make the play off;s but it will be two of the big clubs who get automatic promtion, and by big i mean the ones with a big wage bill for players, and a bigger squad..

  4. Paulwinty - you are one of the few who talks any sense on this site? like you say for the amount of time laws has been there what has he done? Sturrock got sacked but he had a excuse with injury problems ie -Mclean the top scorer and what did Laws do as soon as he was fit- he sold him???

  5. its up to the manager to sort this shambles out, trouble is he's not capable, anybody who buys has beens like jeffers and continually buys these so called old experienced players has no idea. 4th season in charge, suppose he can always save us from relegation again. Marcus you should have gone to Burnley and had a proper manager who turned round a club in double quick time, from a wednesday supporter who yearns to see 'Laws is sacked on the teletext' it will happen soon
