Heat is on for new Clarets boss

Mon 26 Nov, 01:30 PM

Burnley boss Owen Coyle insists he is ready for the tough "baptism of fire" which forthcoming trips to Watford and Charlton promise to provide.Coyle, 41, was appointed as successor to Steve Cotterill last week before presiding over his first game in charge during Saturday's goalless home draw against Stoke in the Championship.

But with a trip to Vicarage Road on Tuesday followed by another tough encounter at Charlton, Coyle admits the promotion contenders will severely test his side.

"Watford and Charlton away is a baptism of fire, but you wouldn't have it any other way," said Coyle.

"As a player, manager and coach you aspire to be involved at the highest level possible and obviously stepping up to the Championship provides me with that opportunity, which I intend to make the most of."
