Selhurst shuffle in store for PNE

Mon 26 Nov, 02:45 PM

New Preston boss Alan Irvine could shuffle his pack when he picks the team for the first time at fellow Championship strugglers Crystal Palace. The former Everton assistant manager was appointed at Deepdale as Paul Simpson's successor last week, but he allowed deputy Rob Kelly to select the side for Saturday's home game against Charlton.

A 2-0 defeat at the hands of Alan Pardew's men could lead to changes, despite a spirited display, as Irvine seeks to engineer an upturn in results.

Kelly switched Callum Davidson to left-back in place of Matt Hill for the Addicks clash, while Paul Gallagher returned to the starting line-up on the left flank to replace Simon Whaley and skipper Kevin Nicholls came back to partner Paul McKenna in the centre of midfield.

Irvine, who will again be without goalkeeper Wayne Henderson (back) and Billy Jones (hamstring), must also decide who plays up front after Brett Ormerod and Andy Carroll drew blanks at the weekend.

Kick-off at Selhurst Park on Tuesday is at 8pm.
