Gillingham manager Mark Stimson insists there will be no respite for his players despite having a 10-day break from League One action.Stimson oversaw his first league win since taking charge at Priestfield with a 2-1 victory over Hartlepool on Saturday, but the Gills are not due to play again until next Tuesday's trip to Crewe after being knocked out of the FA Cup at Barnet earlier this month.
Instead, a gruelling training regime awaits Stimson's men after they extended their unbeaten streak on home soil to 10 games in all competitions.
"I think the players would love to have a game this week as I told them the next 10 days will be a mini pre-season," said Stimson. "They're going to be working hard and going through the fitness tests that we will set them.
"We would love to be playing next Saturday but we aren't so we'll deal with it. It gives us longer to focus and prepare for our next away game."
Meanwhile, the club have confirmed striker Chris Dickson has extended his loan spell from Charlton for a third and final month. The new deal will expire after the trip to Brighton on December 21.
