Championship - Helguson joins QPR

Heidar Helguson has joined Queens Park Rangers on loan from Bolton Wanderers until January.

FOOTBALL Helguson Iceland - 0

The 31-year-old Iceland striker could feature as early as this weekend, when the Hoops face Crystal Palace in a London derby.

The deal looked to have fallen through over the weekend when Helguson was absent from the squad which travelled to Watford and reports surfaced linking the striker with a move to Charlton.

But the former Fulham and Watford man is back in West London and in line for a place in Paulo Sousa's squad for the trip to Selhurst Park on Saturday.

"This is a good opportunity for me to play first-team football," he told Rangers' official website.

"I need to be playing regular football and hopefully I'll get the chance to do that here."

Helguson joined Bolton from Fulham in 2007 but has had serious injury problems that have limited him to only seven Premier League matches, in which he has scored twice.

  2. He may not be Premiership quality but I reckon he'll do ok in this division again, a bit of class along side Dexter.

  3. Hope he does well for QPR as he is nothing more than a Championship player.
At least he will be off the books at Bolton now and we can get in a good flair player in midfield.

    Good luck Helg!!!
