The men's World Cup downhill training run at Lake Louise was cancelled after heavy snow made the Whitehorn Mountain course unsafe for skiers.
Approximately 10 centimetres of snow settled overnight on the Canadian Rockies resort and forecasters predicted a continuation until Friday.
Race officials begun to clear the course but heavy winds and poor visibility made skiing unsafe.
A training run is scheduled for Friday ahead of the season-opening Alpine speed races this weekend, with the downhill set for Saturday and the first Super-G on Sunday.
The snow is expected to stop falling on Friday, with sunshine predicted.
