Top 14 - Toulouse top as Clermont lose
Toulouse head the Top 14 table despite being held to a draw by Brive after Montpellier fell to a 29-23 defeat at Clermont.
Struggling Montoellier, who started the day just four points off the foot of the table, stunned Clermont, with two tries by Timoci Nagusa and seven successful shots at goal by Benoit Paillaugue giving them victory.
Clermont tried to fight back into the match, with Morgan Parra scoring a try eight minutes from time to give the visitors hope before securing the consolation prize of a losing bonus point with a penalty two minutes from time.
Toulouse also struggled against lesser opposition, drawing 9-9 at Brive as the hosts' produced a stirring second-half comeback.
Lionel Beauxis had put the visitors 9-0 up just after half-time with his third penalty of the match, but Julien Caminati landed three penalties for the hosts - the last of them coming three minutes from time - to secure a share of the points.
Castres and Toulon also drew in a match that finished 22-22 at Stade Pierre-Antoine.
Jonny Wilkinson appeared to have secured a win with a penalty for Toulon two minutes from the final whistle, but Pierre Bernard landed a penalty for the hosts with the clock in the red to earn a draw with the last kick of the match.
In Saturday's late match, Agen fly-half Conrad Barnard came out on top of what turned into a battle of the kickers against his Bordeaux opposite number Gerard Frazer as the home side won 24-15.
Barnard landed seven penalties and a drop goal in a flawless kicking display while Frazer managed four penalties and one drop goal with just one miss.
